Guðmundur has over twenty years’ experience advising clients on corporate and finance related issues. He frequently acts for lenders and borrowers alike in commercial lending agreements and is experienced in supervising due diligence and providing legal opinions in relation to debt offerings. Guðmundur often advises startups and is an experienced board member. He speaks fluent English and Norwegian.

Between 2011-19 Guðmundur advised the Winding-up Board of LBI ehf. (formerly Landsbanki Íslands hf.). The insolvency of Landsbanki Íslands hf. is one of the largest in history with liabilities around USD 30 billion and estimated assets approximately 14 billion. Guðmundur advised LBI in relation to various mergers and acquisitions, including Actavis (pharmaceuticals), Aurum Holdings (jewellery retailer), House of Fraser (department stores), and Iceland Foods (food retailer). Moreover, he was involved in the restructuring of LBI ehf. where he together with LAGASTOÐ’s partners Kristinn Bjarnason, Halldór Backman, and Pétur Örn Sverrisson oversaw LBI’s court proceedings and managed complex negotiations with LBI’s creditors that were finalised with a composition and a EUR 2 billion bond issuance.
