ATTORNEY AT LAW

Sveinbjörg leads our tax practice. She began her career as a tax lawyer with Deloitte Iceland and Ernst & Young Iceland, working closely with chartered accountants and advising both local and international clients. Prior to joining LAGASTOÐ, she was elected Deputy Member of Alþingi, the Icelandic Parliament, and later served as a Councillor for the City of Reykjavík.

Her practice focuses on banking and finance, corporate and commercial law, private equity, real estate, and tax. She has significant M&A experience, including leading due diligence processes, and frequently advises on lending agreements, debt issuances, and related financing structures. In recent years, Sveinbjörg has guided clients on the financing, acquisition, and development of commercial and residential real estate, with a particular emphasis on investment and property finance.

Clients value Sveinbjörg for her commercially focused and pragmatic approach. She has broad experience advising international clients and leverages her fluency in English, French, and German to provide seamless cross-border support.
