ATTORNEY AT LAW – PARTNER

Sölvi holds a Master of Law from University of Iceland, from where he graduated in 2009. Sölvi specialises in banking and finance, competition law, corporate and commercial law, and insolvency and bankruptcy. He has vast experience advising on resources, energy, and environment, including the legal aspects of aquaculture (fish farming). Between 2009-16 Sölvi advised the Winding-up Board of LBI ehf. (formerly Landsbanki Íslands hf.). The insolvency of Landsbanki Íslands hf. is one of the largest in history with liabilities around USD 30 billion and estimated assets approximately 14 billion.

Sölvi was admitted to practice before the Appeal Court in 2019 and became partner at LAGASTOÐ in 2020. He was recently instructed by the Icelandic Competition Authority in a complex judicial review challenge before the Appeal Court.
