Gizur is a seasoned litigator with a strong focus on civil and commercial disputes. With extensive experience and deep expertise in Icelandic procedural law, he advises clients on risk mitigation, strategic decision-making, and complex legal challenges. His practice centres on corporate and commercial law, and he is widely recognised as one of the Bar’s leading authorities in competition law.

On the non-contentious side, Gizur regularly advises private enterprises on commercial transactions and is frequently instructed by state institutions and municipalities in regulatory matters. In contentious work, he has appeared before all levels of the Icelandic courts, including in over 60 cases before the Supreme Court of Iceland, across a broad range of civil, commercial, regulatory, and constitutional matters. He frequently acts for regulators and public bodies in judicial review challenges and complex litigation. In recent years, Gizur has acted for the Government of Iceland, the Central Bank of Iceland, and the Icelandic Competition Authority, both before the Supreme Court of Iceland and the EFTA Court in Luxembourg.
