ATTORNEY AT LAW – MANAGING PARTNER

Gizur is our managing partner. He is a seasoned litigator, particularly focusing on civil and commercial litigation. With his extensive experience and knowledge of Icelandic procedures, Gizur helps clients mitigate risk and navigate complex strategic issues and legal challenges. His main focus is on corporate and commercial law and he is widely regarded as one of the Bar’s leading specialists in competition law.

In terms of non-contentious experience, Gizur frequently advises private enterprises on commercial transactions and is often called upon by state institutions and municipalities in terms of regulatory issues. On the contentious side, Gizur regularly appears for regulators and state institutions in judicial review challenges. In recent years, Gizur has acted for the Government of Iceland, the Central Bank of Iceland and the Icelandic Competition Authority, both before the Supreme Court of Iceland and the EFTA Court in Luxembourg. Gizur was recently instructed by the Government of Iceland in a landmark case before the Court of Justice of the European Union concerning alleged market abuse by Uefa and Fifa.
